POLISH COMPANIES ARE INETRESTED IN TRADE AND ECONOMIC COOPERATION WITH TAJIKISTAN

Dushanbe, October 18. (NIAT “Khovar”, Ludmila Dubinina). – On the threshold of the 1st session of the Poland-Tajik Intergovernmental Commission on economic cooperation which will be held October 25-26 in Warsaw, in the republic press-center on October 15, afternoon, there was a press-conference during which Slavomir Stshalkovsky, the Adviser on trade and investments of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Tajikistan, introduced the journalists into the economic situation in Poland and its interaction with EU states of the Central and East Europe, which, according to the Adviser, continues retaining stable and positive growth. Then he told about the economic cooperation between Poland and Tajikistan, paying attention to the positive dynamics in the trade between our countries.

“In accordance with the statistics, during January-July 2010 the mutual turnover of the products was USD 17 million that is 3 times more in comparison with the similar period of the last year. The turnover of the Polish export to Tajikistan was increased 2.8 times,” S. Stshalkovsky said.

The assortment of export is being actively extended. The supplies of edible products have considerably been increased; the supplies of goods of the chemical industry are increasing, as well as supplies of products of non-ferrous metal industry, furniture, construction materials, foot wear, and day-to-day goods. Meanwhile, at present the leading positions of the Polish export to the Republic of Tajikistan are edible products, machines, equipment, products of non-ferrous metal and chemical industries. Regarding the import from Tajikistan, for the seven months it has reached one to third portion of the volume of the last year. According to the representative of the Embassy of Poland, it, first of all, depends on a cut-back in production of Poland-Tajik enterprise “Unitexpol”, its portion of products in the total volume of import from the Republic of Tajikistan is more than 95%.

       “Still the interest of representatives of business community of Poland towards long-termed trade and economic cooperation with Tajikistan is quite considerable. Polish companies are interested in the supplies of machines, equipment, furniture, construction materials and molding, medicines, day-to-day goods, edible products and other goods to the markets of Tajikistan,” S. Stshalkovsky noted. “Poland is interested in the participation of the representatives of Polish companies in the International exhibitions, held in Dushanbe, as well as in the increase of contacts between the business communities of both countries,” he added.

The establishment of free economic zone “Sughd” of the Poland-Tajik joint enterprise “Skorut Tajikistan” on the production of equipment of sun energy accumulation for the hot water supply, heating and air conditioning of accommodation premises during summer is one of the practical results of the cooperation. “The usage of the renewed sources of power on the base of modern technologies, where Polish companies represent unique developments, is a quite perspective aspect of bilateral investment cooperation,” S. Stshalkovsky said.

Together with the head of department of promotion of trade and investments of Poland, directors of Polish companies “Dressta” – production of machines, equipment for mining and roads construction, and “Polcolor” – production of ceramic tiles, took part in the press-conference.

It should be reminded that the Agreement between the Government of Poland and Tajikistan on economic cooperation was signed on November 3, 2009.
