THE ADB HAS CONCLUDED THE PROJECT OF TAJIK HEALTHCARE REFORMATION

     Dushanbe, January 12. (NIAT “Khovar”, Payrav Nazarov). – The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has concluded its project of reformation of a healthcare system of the Republic of Tajikistan which was aimed at the improvement of health of poor layers of the population, especially women and children. The project has contributed to the reduction of infant and maternal mortalities and communication of the AID/HIV in the country which meets the Millennium Development Goals. 
     “We are happy that the project has managed to support the system of quality improvement of healthcare of the country,” ADB Permanent Representative in Tajikistan Yoji Takeshi says.
     The project has helped to increase the management efficiency in the sphere of a healthcare by means of promotion and reformation of institutions. With the support of the project the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan has adopted a number of important legal documents including the strategy of financing the healthcare for the period of 2005 – 2015 and financial and operational structure of a family medicine.
    “The mechanism of quality control of medicines has been strengthened that is evidenced by an abrupt increase of the number of legalized certificated chemistries. During 2004 there were 157 certificated chemistries, and during 2009 their number has reached 1258. Also the inspection of quality of medicines has been increased from the figure of 7050 tests in 2004 till 13000 tests during 2007,” Mr. Takeshi comments.
    The frames of the project 49 medical institutions has been constructed and repaired in five districts as follows: Aini, Kulyab, Gornaya Matcha, Rasht and Roshtkala. More than 130 doctors and 580 nurses had trainings in family medicines and 150 workers of healthcare had trainings in healthcare financing.
      The ADB has provided a credit of USD 7.5 mln. for the project, the contribution of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan is USD 1.7 mln. (Translation by L. Ulitina)
