THE EXPANSION OF TRADE-ECONOMIC RELATIONS BETWEEN GREAT BRITAIN AND TAJIKISTAN

Dushanbe, February 28. (NIAT “Khovar”, Payrav Nazarov). – On February 25 of the current year Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Mr. Hamrakhon Zarifi received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in the Republic of Tajikistan H. E. Trevor Moore and Head of the Department for International Development of Great Britain in Tajikistan (DFID) Mr. Desmond Karren.

In the course of meeting the sides discussed the condition and further development of bilateral relations, regional cooperation, the results of assessment of the UK Government of the bilateral governmental assistance and further promotion of cooperation between DFID and the Government of Tajikistan.

The Ambassador of Great Britain in Tajikistan assured that the information in mass media concerning the intention of the Government of his country to restrict financial assistance to Tajikistan is not authoritative; moreover, the assistance will be provided in the same sums.

The sides shared their opinions concerning the improvement of an investment climate and expansion of bilateral trade-economic relations between Great Britain and Tajikistan.
