Trilateral meeting of the Presidents of Tajikistan, Afghanistan and Iran

Dushanbe, March 26. (NIAT “Khovar”).-

In the afternoon of 25th of March trilateral meeting of the Presidents of Tajikistan, Afghanistan and Iran – Emomali Rahmon, Hamid Karzai and Mahmud Ahmadinejad took place in Kokhi Somon residence of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan in Dushanbe.
It was noted that the fundamental economic cooperation is among the most important and advantageous long-term trilateral relations between Tajikistan, Afghanistan and Iran.
Much attention was paid to the development of trilateral cooperation in ensuring peace and stability in Afghanistan and restoration of socio-economic and transport-transit opportunities of this country.
The Memorandum of Understanding between the Republic of Tajikistan, the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan on the construction of railway, power (oil, gas and electricity) and water transmission line has been signed at the meeting.
It was highlighted that the issues of implementation of this and other arrangements between Tajikistan, Afghanistan and Iran will be considered in the nearest future at the first meeting of the Joint Trilateral Commission. (Provided by www.president.tj)
