Tajik Foreign Minister has met with the President and Prime Minister of Korea

Dushanbe, July 6. (NIAT "Khovar").-

In 5 July 2012 in the framework of the Sixth Korea-Central Asia Cooperation Forum the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Hamrokhon Zarifi has met with the President of the Republic of Korea Mr. Lee Myung-Bak and the Prime Minister of this country Mr. Kim Hwang-Sik.

During the meetings the sides discussed the prospects of development of bilateral relations and establishment of multidimensional and mutually beneficial cooperation between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Korea.

The Tajik Foreign Minister Hamrokhon Zarifi noted that the mentioned session is being held in the year of 20th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations of the countries of the region with the Republic of Korea and highlighted that today’s role of the Republic of Korea in the international community is expanding constantly due to its active position in the world scene and constructive approach to urgent modern issues.

At the meetings it was also noted that despite the achieved positive moments in the development of economic cooperation, in particular, the foreign trade turnover between our countries for the period from 1992 to 2012 has made up about 270 million USD, the economic cooperation between the two friendly countries does not answer the existing potential and opportunities.

In conclusion the sides expressed hope that the mentioned forum will give a new impetus for further enhancement of bilateral relations, the Department of Information, Press, Analysis and Foreign Policy Planning of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan has reported.
