Deputy Foreign Minister of Tajikistan has met with Polish Ambassador

Dushanbe, July 20. (NIAT “Khovar”).-

On July 19, the Deputy Foreign Minister of Tajikistan Mr. Zohidov Nizomiddin held a meeting with the member of European Parliament from Poland Mr. Pavel Zalevski. The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary in Tajikistan (with a residence in Tashkent) Mr. Marian Przeżdziecki was accompanied by Mr. Pavel Zalevski.

Mr. Pavel Zalevski was in Tajikistan from July 15 and visited Khorog and Kulyab. He shared impressions on this trip and expressed satisfaction with the results of this visit.

On the issue of relations of Tajikistan and European Union Mr. Pavel Zalevski noted, that the authorities of European Union have been extended after the conclusion of Lisbon Treaty in 2007. In this connection European Parliament could encourage deepening of relations in various areas.

The two sides have shared views on the issue of development situation in Afghanistan and Central Asian region.

In his turn Mr. Zohidov underlined, that Tajikistan has highly appreciated relationship with European Union and interested in his further development.

Regarding Afghanistan issue, the position on development situation with this neighboring country was stated and expressed hope for further international community efforts in this direction. It was stressed, that establishment of peace and stability in Afghanistan is important factor for sustainable development of Central Asian region.

The interlocutors have also discussed the matter of accession of Tajikistan to WTO. Mr. Pavel Zalevski expressed readiness to support Tajikistan in the country’s efforts, the Department of Information, Press, Analysis and Foreign Policy Planning of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan reported.
