Tajik ambassador presented his credentials to the American President
Dushanbe, August 2. (NIAT “Khovar”).-
On July 30, 2012 the ceremony of presenting credentials of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tajikistan to the United States Mr. Nuriddin Shamsov to the President of the United States of America Mr. Barack Obama took place at the White House.
During the ceremony a short conversation with the President of the United States was held. Taking advantage of the moment, the Ambassador read a message from President of the Republic of Tajikistan Mr. Emomali Rahmon and also conveyed his wishes to Barack Obama.
In turn, U.S. President Barack Obama said that Tajikistan and the United States are having friendly relations for twenty years, which are based on mutual respect and interdependence in addressing obligations for the sake of democracy, freedom and equal opportunities for citizens.
The President noted that Tajikistan is a reliable partner for the United States in maintaining peace, security and development in Afghanistan. He added that the U.S. will continue its cooperation towards combating transnational threats such as terrorism and drug trafficking. During the conversation President Obama expressed his appreciation for the cooperation in addressing the above-mentioned issues, taking into account a greater respect for human rights and the implementation of the hopes and expectations of the people of Tajikistan.
Ambassador Shamsov noted that due to the efforts of both sides to further improve friendly relations the cooperation between the Republic of Tajikistan and the United States is expanding every day and development of long-term and stable partnership between the two countries is in the interest of both parties which promote peace, security and stability in the region. In particular the Ambassador noted that the Republic of Tajikistan and the United States are partners in the coalition against terrorism and make a significant contribution to the restoration of peace, security and economic prosperity of Afghanistan.
NIAT “Khovar” has been reported at the Department of Information, Press, Analysis and Foreign Policy Planning of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan.
