OSCE PLANS TO PROMOTE DEVELOPMENT OF HUMAN RIGHTS DEFENDER’S OFFICE IN TAJIKISTAN IN 2009
Dushanbe, December, 11th. (Farangis Rahimova, Tojiddin Rizvon, the NIAT "Khovar"). — The 60th anniversary of the Universal declaration of human rights celebrated all over the world. The conference devoted to this Day on a theme «Tajikistan and 60th anniversary of the Universal declaration of human rights» was held in capital. More than 80 participants have met to discuss prospects and recommendations about development of human rights in Tajikistan. Questions of creation of National institute of the representative under human rights, access to justice, and realization of judicial-legal reform in the Republic of Tajikistan and fulfillment of the international obligations by Tajikistan under contracts in the field of human rights have been mentioned. The head of office of OSCE in Tajikistan Vladimir Pryahin has expressed the gratitude to a management of Tajikistan for efforts for universal and full-scale fulfillment of all without an exception of positions of this declaration: «We welcome that for the last few years in Tajikistan essential steps for improvement of the situation connected with observance of human rights are undertaken. Major of these steps — an adoption of law «On human rights defender's office». During our activity for 2009 we plan rendering of practical measures for the purpose of assistance in development of this office».
