AUGUST, 17TH IS DAY OF WORKERS OF EMERGENCY SITUATIONS AND CIVIL DEFENCE
Dushanbe, January, 23rd. (Olga Saprykina, the NIAT "Khovar"). — Yesterday the final press conference was held in the Committee on emergency situations and civil defense under the Government of RT. The basic directions of the Committee's activity for last year were discussed. It was noticed that more than 2,5 thousand extreme situations were registered in the republic, 117 of them are of the natural character. In result of disasters 18 persons were lost. The damage put after disasters made more than 93 million somoni. Material aid at a rate of 159,5 thousand somoni was rendered to population suffered from extreme situations. For 2008 in the republic over 1 thousand actions for population civil defense training were held. Also it was noticed that according to the Law of RТ "About amendments and supplements in Law of RТ "About holidays" August, 17th was announced as the Day of workers of emergency situations and civil defense.
