IN 2008 WORLD VOLUME OF FOREIGN DIRECT INVESTMENTS WAS REDUCED BY 21 %
Dushanbe, January, 21st. (Nargis Boyakhmedova, Olga Saprykina, the NIAT "Khovar"). — In 2008 the world volume of direct foreign investments (DFI) was reduced by 21 % in comparison with last year and made 1,4 billion US dollars. The United Nations News Centre informed about it. It is noticed that many companies have already announced plans to reduce production and capital spending, and also dismissal of workers that will cause decrease in direct foreign investments. However, crisis consequences have differently affected geographical DFI structure. In 2008 inflow of investments to industrially developed countries was reduced by 33 % in comparison with 2007. At the same time, despite of global economic shocks, financial crisis and regional conflicts countries of Southeast Europe and CIS kept investment attractiveness. In 2008 direct foreign investments into these states have grown on 6,2 %. It must be noticed that according to the data for the January, 1st, 2009, an operating investment portfolio of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan consists of 51 investment projects total sum of which makes 5,19 billion somoni. The sum of direct investments is 3 billion somoni.
