19-TH NEW DELHI WORLD BOOK FAIR WILL BE HELD FROM 30 JANUARY TO 7 FEBRUARY 2010
Dushanbe, 6th February. (NIAT "Khovar" Jasmine Nazarova). — The 19th New Delhi World Book Fair will be held from 30 January to 7 February 2010 in Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. As have informed correspondent the NIAT "Hovar" from a press — the centre Embassy of India of Tajikistan, the New Delhi World Book Fair is the largest book event in the Afro-Asian region organized biennially by the National Book Trust, India. It has acquired a distinct reputation among the international book publishing industry. In terms of size and volume the New Delhi World Book Fair is second only to the Frankfurt Book Fair and attracts exhibitors in large numbers both from within India and abroad. The Republic of Germany is Guest of Honour at the 19th New Delhi World Book Fair 2010. The capital of India, the city is also the nerve-centre of Indian publishing. India is perhaps the only country in the world which publishes books in more than 37 languages. It ranks third in the publication of English books immediately after the USA and the UK. More than 70,000 new titles are published every year, out of which 20,000 are in the English language. The New Delhi World Book Fair combines copyright trade, book trade, cultural activities, exhibitions and displays, information exchanges and industrial communications. The 18th New Delhi World Book Fair was organised by the NBT in February 2008.
