WITH ASSISTANCE OF WB 12 PROJECTS ARE REALIZED IN TAJIKISTAN

           Dushanbe, February, 2nd. (Olga Saprykina, the NIAT "Khovar"). — On January, 30th, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon accepted the new director of the World Bank (WB) for Central Asia Motoo Konishi. At the meeting questions of varied cooperation between our country and World Bank and WB rendering assistance to social and economic development of Tajikistan have been discussed. It was marked that now with WB assistance 12 projects are realized in Tajikistan for the total sum of 173 million dollars, 85 million dollars of which are given in the form of grants i.e. in the free aid.             M. Konishi declared that for him it is very significant that taking his office he started a trip in the Central Asia with visiting of Tajikistan. Having highly estimated anti-recessionary measures of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, he has noticed: "The World Bank, in cooperation with corresponding structures of Tajikistan will take all necessary steps for minimising of negative effects of world financial crisis". He also declared that the World Bank will strengthen its support in use of wide opportunities of Tajikistan's economy.           In course of the meeting it was noticed that water-power engineering development taking into the account its regional value, to restorate Afghanistan's economy and meet energy needs of Pakistan, is one of priority directions of cooperation between Tajikistan and World Bank. One of important direction was called cooperation in agricultural sphere, including question of rendering support to cotton-growing sector of the republic. In course of detailed conversation the parties confirmed mutual firm interest in the further cooperation expansion.          About it the NIAT "Khovar" was informed in the press-service of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan.
