A MEDIA CAMPAIGN FOR PROTECTION AGAINST BIRD FLU HAS BEEN HELD IN DUSHANBE
Dushanbe. 17 April. (NIAT "Khovar"). — Yesterday, 16 April, has been held a media campaign for protection of the children and women against bird flu. This occasion launched by UNICEF in Dushanbe. The main aim of campaign was to support Tajik Government National Plan by UNICEF and its partnership such as World Bank, World Health Organisation in problems of prevention and controlling Avian Influenza during 2006-2010 year. However there have not been registered cases of bird flu in Tajikistan there should be an awareness of related to bird flue according to campaign. According to UNICEF delegates in Tajikistan women and children are most exposed of the risk of bird flu because they are ones who take care of poultry and cook it. There also have been decided that national wide, regional television and radio are obliged to broadcast public highlighting the need to wash hands with soap after dealing poultry or eggs. Numerous billboards, posters and leaflets also spread this information in hospitals, schools, and public institution throughout the country.
