AFGHAN DRUGS TRAFFICKER DETAINED AT KURGAN-TYUBE BUS TERMINAL
Dushanbe, May 13. (NIAT "Khovar", Natalya Mikhaylova). — A 27-year-old citizen of Afghanistan was detained by operatives of the Drugs Control Agency under the President of Tajikistan when they were on raid at the bus terminal of the city of Kurgan-Tyube, the administrative center of the Khatlon Region in southern Tajikistan. The detained, whose full name was not disclosed in the interests of interrogation, had with him 9 kilograms and 228 grams of raw opium. The narcotic was designed for further transportation outside Tajikistan. At present, interrogators are taking measures to search and find possible accomplices of the detained Afghan drugs trafficker. The DCA officials told the "Khovar" news agency correspondent that since the beginning of the year more than 230 kg of narcotics have been taken out from illicit circulation by Tajikistan's anti-drugs bodies, including 77.9 kg of heroin, 66.6 kg of raw opium and 84.6 kg of cannabis-related narcotics.
