PRESIDENT E. RAHMON MEETS AMBASSADORS OF OSCE MEMBER STATES

                Dushanbe, May 27. (NIAT "Khovar"). — In the evening of May 26 President Emomali Rahmon received a group of ambassadors from member states of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).Current issues and prospects of cooperation between Tajikistan and the Organization were discussed.                Emphasizing his satisfaction with the 17-year interaction between Tajikistan and the OSCE, President Emomali Rahmon expressed on behalf of the country's people the gratitude for the immense aid rendered to the republic in its difficult period. He named the transformation of the OSCE Center in Dushanbe to that Organization's Office in Tajikistan the moment of the transition to a new stage of cooperation and stressed that this was "the evidence of hopeful prospects of our relations".                The ambassadors highly appreciated Tajikistan's role in ensuring security and stability in the Central Asian region, as well as border management, and declared that the OSCE would support all good-intentioned steps and initiatives of the republic in various fields of cooperation.                  The interlocutors regarded the opening of the OSCE College for Border Management in Dushanbe, slated for May 27, as a significant result of fruitful cooperation.                    Circumstantial talk was also held concerning cooperation in the field of the democratization of society, clearing Tajikistan's territory from mines and other explosives, implementation of economic projects, development of regional cooperation in Central Asia, as well as current situation in Afghanistan and prospects of its development.
