TAJIK-BRITISH JOINT VENTURE TO EXPLOIT ‘PANKRUT’ GOLD DEPOSITS
Dushanbe, May 26. (NIAT "Khovar", Kristina Ehrlich). — A new Tajik-British joint venture is now in the process of preparing to start the exploitation of the ‘Pankrut' gold deposits east of Dushanbe. After the expertise of the project is over, the Government of Tajikistan will give a license for the extraction and processing of ore. The ‘Pankrut' deposits are situated in the Vahdat district, encompassing the basin of the Pakrut brook and left tributary of the Sardai-Miyona river. Gold ore resources are estimated at 28 thousand kilograms of pure gold. In 2005 through 2008 preliminary survey was conducted on spot by specialists of the Main Geologic Management of Tajikistan with the funding of a British mining company.
