TAJIK GOVERNMENT HOLDS REGULAR MEETING
Dushanbe, May 27. (NIAT "Khovar"). — On May 26 President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, who is concurrently Chairman of the country's Government, presided over its regular meeting, where more than 40 important questions were discussed. In the beginning, the report of Head of the Khatlon Region on the development of industry in this province was submitted. It was mentioned, among all, that in 2008 the value of industrial product of the region equaled to 1b and 91m somonis, which exceeds the indicator of 2006 by 100m somonis. The value of the industrial product manufactured in 4 months of the current year equals to 405.5m somonis, which is 11.3m more than in the similar period of the past year. Growth of industrial production has been secured in 22 of 25 towns and districts, and in 132 of 222 industrial enterprises. In 2008, fifteen new industrial enterprises were put into operation, which helped establish more than 800 new jobs. In the first four months of the current year 6 new industrial enterprises started their operation. Head of state Emomali Rahmon instructed the Head of the Khatlon Region Ghaybullo Avzal and management of the Energy and Industry Ministry to take efficient measures for speeding-up the construction of cotton fiber deep processing enterprises and broadening the domestic processing of agricultural produce, including fruit, vegetables, meat, milk, skins, wool and silk cocoons. He stressed that to provide women with jobs, home hand-making of carpets should be developed more intensively. Officials of the Government were instructed to secure strict control of the efficient performance of industrial enterprises, including those privatized. At the meeting, the State Program of the Development of Tourism for the period of 2010-2014, the Model Statute of Primary Vocational Institutions and the Rules of Forming-up the State Fund of Precious Metals and Stones were approved. It was decided to approve and submit to the consideration of Majlisi Namoyandagon (the Lower House of the Tajik Parliament) two drafts of introducing amendments into the laws ‘On the National Guard of the Republic of Tajikistan' and ‘On bankruptcy'. To ensure implementing the Presidential Decree on the reform of licensing system, improvement of legal ambience for private entrepreneurs and stimulation of domestic and foreign investments, a governmental commission was established, headed by the First Deputy Prime Minister. The Program of Implementing the Conception of State Information Policy and the State Register of Water Supply and Irrigation Facilities were also approved. It was decided to spend 18m somonis from the state budget to provide each of 241 thousand low-income families with 8 energy-saving light lamps.
