IN DUSHANBE EDUCATION PROBLEMS IN THE CENTRAL ASIA WERE DISCUSSED
Dushanbe, December, 11th. (Nargiz Boyahmedova, Olga Saprykina, the NIAT "Khovar"). — Financing of the education sector in the Central Asia has not still reached required level of 6 % from gross national product which has been defined at the World Education Forum in 2000. In Kazakhstan in 2006 the education budget made 3,4 % from gross national product, in Kyrgyzstan — 4,7 % and in Tajikistan — 3,6 %. These and other results of the med term evaluation of the Education for All (EFA) have been discussed yesterday at the meeting in Dushanbe which was organized with assistance of UNESCO on the EFA review.Specialists and experts from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan have taken part in the meeting work. Speaking about the quality education in the Central Asia, participants have noticed, that it is necessary to create legislative base, to raise administrative potential, to find necessary resources and to evaluate and to measure achievements in education process. Also it has been noticed that till now there are problems in maintenance with textbooks, there is a shortage of teachers, especially in the countryside, absence of vital skills in national standards of education. In course of the action presentations of the Global Monitoring Report on EFA-2008 and the preliminary information about the new EFA -2009 report and the review of strategic directions and problems on achievement of EFA purposes till 2015 have taken place. According to the results of the meeting participants adopted recommendations about achievement of EFA purposes till 2015 in the Central Asia.
