EMOMALI RAHMON RECEIVES AN EU PARLIAMENTARY DELEGATION
Dushanbe, Aptil 9th. (NIAT "Khovar"). — On April 8th, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon received a delegation of European Union's committees for parliamentary cooperation led by Ona Juknievičiene that had arrived in Tajikistan on a three-day visit. Having expressed satisfaction with incessant broadening of the relations between Tajikistan and European Union, the Tajik Head of state stressed in particular that "studying rich experience of European parliamentary practices would be of paramount importance for Tajikistan". According to Ona Juknievičiene, the official visit of the Republic of Tajikistan's President to the Kingdom of Belgium this last February and talks held by him in Brussels-based EU agencies gave an important impetus to the further development of cooperation between Tajikistan and European Union. "After those meetings, we in Europe came to a better understanding of Tajikistan's role in the Central Asian region, particularly in what regards ensuring peace and stability there", Mrs. Juknievičiene stressed. As the Presidential Press Service informed the "Khovar" news agency, during the meeting, a fruitful conversation was held concerning Tajikistan-Europe cooperation in the fields of regional security, energy, industry, transport and communications, agriculture, science, education, health care, improving investments climate and reinforcing the process of democratization of society. An exchange of opinions took place regarding the preparation for the meeting of "The European Three" foreign ministers with the foreign ministers of the Central Asian countries, due to be held in May this year. Some other questions of mutual interest were also discussed.
